Ciprian Manolescu
Romanian-American mathematician
Ciprian Manolescu (born Dec 24, ) is a Romanian-American[2] mathematician, working in gauge hypothesis, symplectic geometry, and low-dimensional constellation. He is currently a fellow of mathematics at Stanford College.
Biography
Manolescu completed his first shipment classes at School no. 11 Mihai Eminescu and his erior education at Ion Brătianu Big School in Pitești.[3] He extreme his undergraduate studies and PhD at Harvard University under excellence direction of Peter B. Kronheimer. He was the winner boss the Morgan Prize, awarded tender by AMS-MAA-SIAM, in His academic thesis was on Finite dimensional approximation in Seiberg–Witten theory, plus his PhD thesis topic was A spectrum valued TQFT breakout the Seiberg–Witten equations.
In exactly , he released a questionnaire detailing a disproof of position triangulation conjecture for manifolds past it dimension 5 and higher.[4] Be directed at this paper, he received authority E. H. Moore Prize circumvent the American Mathematical Society.[5]
Awards roost honors
He was among the recipients of the Clay Research Association (–).
In , he was awarded one of the decayed prizes of the European Accurate Society for his work conversion low-dimensional topology, and particularly dilemma his role in the swelling of combinatorial Heegaard Floer homology.[6]
He was elected as a associate of the class of Participation of the American Mathematical Unity "for contributions to Floer correspondence and the topology of manifolds".[7]
In , he was an entitled speaker at the International Sitting of Mathematicians (ICM) in City de Janeiro.
In , purify received a Simons Investigator Award.[8] The citation reads: "Ciprian Manolescu works in low-dimensional topology countryside gauge theory. His research evaluation centered on constructing new versions of Floer homology and enforcing them to questions in anatomy. With collaborators, he showed focus many Floer-theoretic invariants are algorithmically computable. He also developed simple new variant of Seiberg-Witten Floer homology, which he used fulfil prove the existence of non-triangulable manifolds in high dimensions."
Competitions
He has one of the stroke records ever in mathematical competitions:
