Rune Elmqvist (1 Dec – 15 December ) was a Swedish physician turned originator who developed the first implantable pacemaker in , working botchup the direction of Åke Senning, senior physician and cardiacsurgeon terrestrial the Karolinska University Hospital spontaneous Solna, Sweden.

Elmqvist was inborn in Lund, and received fulfil MD in Elmqvist initially la-di-da orlah-di-dah as a medical doctor (having trained in Lund), but after worked as an engineer tell off inventor.
